What is Neuropathy?

Neuropathy or Peripheral Neuropathy is a disease resulting from damage to the peripheral nervous system. Neuropathy typically presents with symptoms such as numbness, tingling, or burning sensations in the extremities as well as difficulty using the hands, trouble balancing while walking, and skin that is extremely sensitive to touch.

What causes Neuropathy?

There are many causes of Neuropathy; common ones include systemic diseases such as Diabetes which can cut off the supply of blood vessels to the nerves of the extremities resulting in nerve death. Other causes include exposure to toxins, Chemotherapy and Statin medications being the most common causes in this category. Traumatic incidents such as car accidents and sports injuries can also cause damage to the peripheral nerves resulting in Neuropathy.

How do we treat Neuropathy?

While pain medications can help to treat the symptoms of Neuropathy they do nothing to treat the underlying causes of those symptoms. Here at Kitsap Chiropractic we use non-invasive treatments to not only stop the progression of neuropathy but to repair and reverse the damage to nerves and blood vessels in the extremities through our Comprehensive Treatment Plan.

If you or someone you know is suffering from this condition or if the symptoms mentioned above sound familiar, there is hope! Our doctors will take you through an extensive exam to determine if our treatment is right for you.
